thanks! the whole book publishing thing was an extreme stroke of luck. A few months ago I decided to bite the bullet and pay $200 to have my portfolio listed on the website childrensillustrators.com. I was told that it was a great place to get work because art directors go there all the time looking for kid's illustrators. So out of the blue back in November I got a call from an editor at Abrams wanting to know if I was interested in illustrating a book on a ridiculously tight deadline. She sent me the manuscript that day, and asked me to do a sketch of a scene from the story that weekend. The following Monday, they offered me the job. It was practically handed to me, a luxury I don't count on EVER happening again. (Nor do I think I'll ever have to do an entire book in two months!) It was an awesome experience though, I feel very fortunate! How is life? And where in the world do you get these photographs? Needless to say they are amazing.
